Conference Introduction

Printed electronics uses printing technologies to make flexible and large area electronic and optoelectronic devices and systems. It is a green manufacturing process and has become a new paradigm in electronic manufacturing. Printing is already adopted in OLED display panels production, printing is becoming one of the mainstream technologies for making sensors for IoT. Printing is changing the way the printed circuit board (PCB) are made. Smart packaging based on printed electronics will have great impact on traditional printing and packaging industries. Printed electronics on variety of flexible substrate materials such as plastics, papers, textiles or stretchable materials will enable wide range of form factors for electronic products, therefore, open up vast possibilities of new applications.

China began its own printed electronics development in 2010 and held the first symposium that year. Since then, the symposium has been held for 11 consecutive years, including 2 international conferences (ICFPE 2014 and 2018) hosted in China. These symposiums have stimulated the interests of Chinese researchers and industrialists to get involved in the field. From 2017, the Symposium became one of the SEMI’s global FlexTech meeting series and branded as “Flex China”. SEMI is the international organization for semiconductor industries. By forming the alliance with SEMI, the symposium became international. It also reflected the global trend of combining integrated circuit (IC) with printed electronics to enable practical applications of flexible electronics.

The 2021 Chinese Flexible and Printed Electronics Symposium (Flex China 2021) will again be held in Suzhou on 27-29 October. Built on its previous success, the Flex China 2021 will continue to serve as a platform for the exchange of information and progress in the field of flexible & printed electronics. In addition, this year’s symposium will merge with the symposium of Inkjet Digital Manufacturing and 3D Printing previously held in the same venue, which reflects the trend of printing fabrication extending to nonelectronic applications. The symposium of Inkjet Digital Manufacturing and 3D Printing has been held in the last 5 consecutive years, which was a gathering of experts in the areas of piezo electric inkjet printing, digital coloring and patterning of textiles, inkjet 3D printing, as well as inkjet printer heads manufacturing, testing and packaging.  

The Flex China 2021 is under the umbrella of the 2021 China Nano Conference & Expo (Chinano), with several other events in parallel to be held in the same time and at the same venue. For more information about other parallel events, please visit the Chinano website: http://www.chinanosz.com/

Takao Someya (Tokyo University, Japen Profesor)
Electronic skins for robotics and wearables
Takao Someya was appointed dean of School of Engineering, the University of Tokyo in 2020, where he has been member of faculty since 1997 and professor since 2009. He also conducted research at Columbia University’s Nanocenter and at Bell Labs.
He served on the board of directors of the Material Research Society 2009-2011. He is also Chief Scientist at RIKEN and Team Leader at its Center for Emergent Matter Science since 2015. His expertise is stretchable and organic electronics, developing the world's first stretchable electronic skin for robotic application. He was awarded the 16th Leo Esaki Prize in 2019.

浸淫显示产业廿十余年,曾参与包括场发射显示技术(FED)、有机发光二极管(OLED)、电子纸等新型显示技术的研发与产业化,相关专利超过百篇。对于显示产业现况与发展趋势有独到的评价与解析。在新技术产业化上,具高分子OLED显示技术商品化建立台湾第一条生产线、与日本公司合作完成全世界第一个高分子OLED激光打印机、建立台湾第一条包含制程与设备的太阳能电池生产线等产业经历。于显示产业的材料、制程与设备领域都有很深的造诣,是显示技术产业发展的先驱。目前于浙江清华柔性电子技术研究院担任首席科学家,带领团队开发下世代显示技术。

主要研究领域为柔性印刷电子及薄膜太阳电池。先后在英国华威大学、澳大利亚墨尔本大学及联邦科学与工业研究院从事研究工作,2012年回国工作。在国际期刊发表学术论文210余篇(以第一/通讯作者在Chem. Rev., Chem. Soc. Rev., Sci. Bull., AEM, APL等发表SCI论文120余篇),他引5600余次, H-index为43,2019入选英国皇家化学会“Top 1% 高被引用学者”;申请国家专利技术25项,授权专利技术19项,专利技术转让4项;与公司合作研制了柔性印刷电子领域多功能卷对卷印刷设备、多功能平台式印刷设备、柔性电子测试设备等,已在国内高校、研究所及公司得到广泛应用;担任国际电工委员会印刷电子标准专家委员会委员、国际信息显示学会北京分会技术委员会委员、中国可穿戴技术和设备产业应用联盟理事等。

华中科技大学 教授, “华中学者”和“学术前沿青年团队——柔性电子制造团队带头人”,国家优秀青年科学基金获得者,国家杰出青年科学基金获得者,教育部“长江学者奖励计划”青年学者,教育部新世纪优秀人才。 2007年于西北工业大学获得博士学位,同年进入华中科技大学博士后流动站工作,2009年被评为副教授,2014年被评为教授,在数字制造装备与技术国家重点实验室进行前沿科研工作,2012年美国西北大学做访问学者。在Nature Comm.、Nano Energy、Advanced Materials、Small、Nanoscale、Lab Chip、Chem Comm、Scientific Reports、Soft Matter、IEEE Trans.、ASME Trans等期刊发表SCI论文60余篇(封面/封底论文7篇,影响因子大于4的论文10余篇),出版中文著作2部、英文著作1部,受邀撰写英文专著2章,会议论文集2部,获得授权国家发明专利30余项,软件著作权登记4项,获得湖北省自然科学一等奖、瑞士日内瓦国际发明金奖。

长期从事用于生物信息测量和生物制造的核心元器件的研制及仪器装备的开发,作为负责人主持科研项目20余项,近两年获批500万以上国家级科研项目2项,主持国家及省部级项目的研究经费合计2000余万。近年来,课题组的研究成果发表在Biosensors and Bioelectronics, Lab on a Chip、ACS Applied Materials & Interfaces、 Sensors and Actuators B: Chemical、Microsystems & Nanoengineering、Ultrasonics-Sonochemistry等国际知名学术期刊和IEEE MEMS、Transducers、MicroTAS等国际知名学术会议上。开发了基于喷墨印刷制备的柔性电子表皮生物微流体系统,实现了血糖的连续监测,满足了糖尿病的临床诊断和治疗需求。
